On March 15, 2021, International University of Central Asia hosted a round table – meeting on teaching English in the context of distance learning “Teaching English online: challenges and solutions”. The initiators and organizers of the round-table were the teachers of “Linguistics. English language” department. The participants of the round table were teachers and students of the “Linguistics. English language” department, teachers of the IUCA Humanitarian and Technical College, teachers of the Ak-Bata school (Tokmok city), leading specialists of the Education Department of the Bishkek City Administration and the Chui-Tokmok Department of Education, teachers and students of the Kyrgyz-Russian (Slavic) University, teachers of public secondary schools in the Chui region and the city of Bishkek, teachers of private language centers the cities of Tokmok and Tomsk (Russia). The guest of honor was Dr. Dennis Bricoult (USA).
All the participants noted that the merit of the round-table was that the participants had enough time to share their experience, their ideas and recommendations for the promotion of interactive computer technologies in teaching English in online and hybrid education. For several hours, the participants were shown methodological and scientific developments, proving that online learning has forever changed not only the world, but also the policy of education, which now has universal features and universal approaches of the entire army of teachers from all over the world. The speeches of representatives of educational institutions of different levels and countries were constructive and had a novelty in teaching methods. The speakers showed excellent command of interactive technologies and various methodological techniques of computer modeling of English lessons.
The participants in the roundtable concluded that the success of online English teaching fully depends on the teacher who knows the technologies, tools and methods of interactive, cooperative and collaborative approaches in the development of the basic competencies of reading, writing, speaking, and listening in English. In addition, visual contact, synchronization of all role-based approaches, together with interactive technologies of learning platforms without a doubt will ensure learning success.
The roundtable participants noted that they received much more from the event than they expected, namely inspiration and desire to continue their hard work.
