From January 27-29, 2019, IUCA Asistant-Professor Ulan Sarbanov helped represent Kyrgyzstan at the Eurasia Emerging Markets Forum in Gerzensee, Switzerland. The Forum was co-hosted by the Swiss National Bank and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). It was attended by around 60 participants from around the world including 4 representatives from Kyrgyzstan. The focus of this Forum was the Impact of China’s Belt and Road Initiative on the Central Asia and Caucasus (CASC) region. Presentations were made by Forum members and discussions were joined by senior managers from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank. Assistant-Professor Sarbanov, as Former Governor of the National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic served as a member of one of the Roundtable sessions.
Ulan Sarbanov teaches International Economic Relations, Financial Markets & Institutions, and other Economics topics to students of the International University of Central Asia (IUCA) in Tokmok, Kyrgyzstan. His vast knowledge and experience coupled with his love for growing and challenging the thinking of students makes him a very popular professor on campus.
