A traditional “orientation week” for first-year students took place at the IUCA. A number of activities had been designed to introduce and familiarize students with university, meet other students, learn about essential course information and student support services and to formally induct new students into the university environment.
The President of the IUCA J.R. Clark made a welcoming speech and pointed out the importance of selection the IUCA — the only regional university established in accordance with the American model of education. Also the Deputy Mayor of Tokmok city S. Stupnikov, the provost of IUCA K.Sharshekeev and the vice -President of IUCA A.Kalchakeeva gave a pep talk to first years.
For the first time, the o-week was held by the Student Senate who hospitably met and helped freshmen in acquaintance with the new environment, with the university structure, with its academic policy and units dealing with student support and the organization of extracurricular work.
Trainings and presentations on time management, educational programs, organization of the educational process, plans of work of the Student Office and the Student Senate, as well as performances from the Vocal-Theatrical Studio have been held within the framework of the orientation days.
Particular attention was given to familiarizing students with the basic values of the university — academic honesty, academic freedom and critical thinking.
