English Linguistics Students at IUCA Debate the Role of AI in the Workforce
At the International University of Central Asia, students from the English Linguistics program engaged in a thought-provoking debate on the topic “Should AI replace human workers?”

Divided into two teams, the debaters presented opposing viewpoints: proponents of technological progress argued that AI can enhance efficiency and free people from routine tasks, while their opponents emphasized the irreplaceable role of human critical thinking, ethical considerations, and the importance of human involvement in decision-making.

The debate took place in a dynamic and intellectually charged atmosphere, with students supporting their arguments using real-life cases and research. A jury of university professors assessed the teams based on the persuasiveness of their arguments, the logical coherence of their reasoning, and their fluency in English.

At the conclusion of the event, the judges commended the debaters for their high level of preparation in a short time and highlighted the importance of such discussions in fostering critical thinking, research-based argumentation, and public speaking skills—essential competencies for future linguists and educators.
